These apply to RPrealm, the app. See also the Privacy Policy.
1. Who we are and what this is
These Terms are an agreement between you and Faelore Studios ("Faelore Studios", "we", "us"), the maker of RPrealm.
RPrealm is an app for adults where you write stories and roleplay with AI characters, alone or with other people, make your own characters, personas and realms, and share characters publicly if you choose.
By creating an account or using RPrealm you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use RPrealm.
2. You must be 18 or older
- RPrealm is for adults only. You must be at least 18 years old, and old enough to enter a binding contract where you live, to use it.
- Right after you sign in for the first time, we ask for your date of birth. If it shows you are under 18, the account is blocked and can't be used. You get one attempt; the answer can't be changed afterwards to get around the check.
- You can later correct your date of birth, but only to a date that still makes you 18 or older. We keep a record of every change.
- Don't give a false date of birth. If we learn or reasonably believe that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will close it and delete its data.
3. Your account
- You sign in with an email address and password. Keep your password private. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- One person per account. Don't share, sell or transfer your account.
- Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.
- You can choose a display name and an optional public @handle. Don't choose one that impersonates someone else, or is offensive.
- You can delete your account at any time under Me. See section 14 and the Privacy Policy for what that removes.
4. How RPrealm works
- Chats. You write turns; AI models write the characters' replies. You can regenerate, edit and rewind replies.
- Characters, personas and realms. You can create characters (with a name, portrait, bio, personality, voice, starting situation, opening line and tags), personas (who you play as) and realms (settings with lore and places).
- Content levels. Each chat has a content level. Today the levels are Safe, Sensual and Romantic. Romantic is for adults and is non-explicit. Explicit sexual content is not available. We decide which levels exist and may change them.
- Shared realms and places. In a realm's places, other players can see what you write there, and you can see theirs.
- Public characters. You can choose to make a character public so other adults can find it and chat with it. See section 8.
- Portraits. You can ask the app to generate a portrait for a character from its description. Generated portraits are always of an adult and always clothed.
- We are constantly changing RPrealm. We may add, change or remove features, models and limits at any time.
5. AI replies are fiction, and they can be wrong
- Replies are written by AI models, not by people. They are fiction, made up for your story.
- AI can be wrong, inconsistent, repetitive or surprising. It can forget things, break the rules of your story, or say things that are inaccurate, inappropriate or offensive, even with our checks in place.
- Nothing an AI character says is advice. Don't rely on it for medical, legal, financial, mental-health or any other real-world decisions.
- AI characters are not real people and don't have feelings, even if they are written as though they do.
- If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, please contact local emergency services or a crisis line right away. RPrealm is not a support service and can't help in an emergency.
- We use automated checks on replies, but we don't review every reply, and we are not responsible for what AI writes in your private chats beyond what the law requires.
6. Content rules
These rules apply to everything you write or upload: chat turns, characters, personas, realms, lore, portrait descriptions, names, handles, reports and feedback. They also apply to what you try to make the AI write.
Never allowed, anywhere, including in private chats:
- Minors in sexual or romantic content. No character, persona or person under 18, or written as childlike, in any sexual, romantic or suggestive context. This includes stated ages, school years, a child's body, "little girl/boy" framing and age-play. Characters must be clearly adults. An adult who looks young is allowed only when stated to be an adult and nothing childlike appears in a romantic or sexual frame.
- Real people sexualised or harassed. No real, identifiable person (a celebrity, public figure or anyone you know) as a romantic or sexual character, and no content that harasses, threatens, defames or exposes a real person.
- Illegal content. Nothing that is illegal where you are or in the United States, including child sexual abuse material in any form, which we report to the relevant authorities.
- Hate and extremism. No content made to promote hatred of, or violence against, people because of a protected characteristic, and no promotion of terrorist or violent extremist groups. A fictional villain is not, by itself, a breach.
- Real-world harm instructions. No using characters or chats as a vehicle for real instructions for weapons, drugs, hacking, self-harm or other serious harm.
- Non-consent as sexual content. No sexual content in which non-consent, sexual violence or abuse is the point.
- Explicit sexual content. No graphic sexual content. The highest level available is non-explicit.
Also not allowed:
- Harassing, threatening, bullying or stalking other users.
- Posting other people's personal information (doxxing), or your own sensitive details in public places.
- Impersonating another person, including other users and Faelore Studios.
- Spam, scams, advertising, or selling anything to other users.
- Content that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark or other rights (see section 10).
- Trying to get around our safety checks, content levels, the age gate, rate limits or blocks, including by "jailbreaking" the AI.
- Scraping, bulk-downloading, reverse engineering or automated access to RPrealm, or using RPrealm or its outputs to build a competing service or train AI models.
- Interfering with RPrealm's security or other people's use of it, or uploading malware.
We may remove content, limit features, or suspend or close accounts that break these rules (section 13). The Apple App Store and Google Play rules also apply when you use RPrealm through them.
7. Your content and the licence you give us
- You keep ownership of what you write and create in RPrealm ("your content"), to the extent you own it to begin with.
- The licence you give us. You give Faelore Studios a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, process, transmit, adapt the format of, and display your content, only as needed to:
- run RPrealm for you, including sending your content to our AI providers so they can write replies, check them and keep your story's memory;
- show your public characters, your @handle and anything you post in shared realms to other users;
- keep RPrealm safe: review, moderate, investigate reports and enforce these Terms;
- fix problems and keep the service working;
- comply with the law.
- We don't use your private chats to train AI models unless you turn on the optional "Help improve RPrealm" setting. See the Privacy Policy.
- The licence lasts while your content is on RPrealm. It ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we are allowed to keep under the Privacy Policy (for example break reports and reports about other users) and copies other users already made in their own chats with your public character.
- AI replies. As between you and us, you may use the AI replies in your chats for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. You can't claim them as exclusively yours against others, because AI can produce similar text for other people.
- You promise that you have the rights to everything you upload or write, and that your content follows these Terms.
8. Public characters: review and removal
- A character is private until you choose to make it public.
- Before a public character is shown to anyone else, an AI reviews it. The review checks safety first (minors, real people, hate, illegal instructions, non-consent) and then quality. A clear pass is published automatically. A card that needs work comes back to you with what to fix. Unclear cases are looked at by a person at Faelore Studios.
- A character that fails the safety check can't be public. We may also restrict its private use, for example where a character appears to be a minor in a romantic frame.
- When you edit a public character, the edit is reviewed again before it replaces the live version.
- There are limits on how many times a day you can submit characters for review.
- We may remove, hide or decline any public character at any time, including after it was approved, for example after reports, a rights-holder complaint, or a change in our rules. Passing review doesn't mean we endorse a character.
- Other users can chat with your public character. Their chats belong to them; making the character private or deleting it stops new chats, but may not remove it from chats that already exist.
- Public characters show your @handle, if you set one.
9. Reporting and blocking
- You can report a message, a character or a user from inside the app. Reasons include harassment, sexual content involving a minor, an underage user, hate, spam, and other.
- When you report something, we keep the report and a snapshot of the content so we can review it.
- We review reports and act on them as quickly as we reasonably can. Reports involving minors are treated first. We may hide reported content while we look at it.
- You can block another user. A blocked user's content is hidden from you. You can see and undo your blocks under Me → Settings → Data & privacy.
- Misusing the report button (for example, reporting people to harass them) is itself a breach of these Terms.
10. Intellectual property and takedowns
- Our rights. RPrealm, its name, logo, design, software, starter characters and starter realms belong to Faelore Studios or its licensors. You may use them only inside RPrealm under these Terms.
- Fan characters. You may make characters based on existing works (fan characters) for your own private use. If you make one public, it must be your own take, must not copy text or art from the original, and must follow these Terms. Rights holders can ask us to remove fan characters, and we will. Fan characters are never used to train AI models.
- Takedown notices. If you believe content on RPrealm infringes your copyright or other rights, email [email protected] with:
- your name and contact details;
- the work you say is infringed;
- where the content is in RPrealm (character name, @handle, or a screenshot);
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the use isn't authorised;
- a statement that your notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them;
- your physical or electronic signature.
- We will remove or disable the content when appropriate and tell the user who posted it. If you think your content was removed by mistake, you can reply with a counter-notice. We close the accounts of repeat infringers.
- Feedback. If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them without owing you anything.
11. Paid plans
- RPrealm is free today. We may introduce paid plans or limits on free use (such as a daily message limit) later.
- If we do, the price, what you get, billing, renewal and cancellation will be shown before you buy, and further terms will apply.
12. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, which AI providers we use and how long we keep things. It is part of these Terms.
13. Suspension and termination
- You can stop using RPrealm and delete your account at any time.
- We may suspend or close your account, or remove content, if you break these Terms, if we must for legal reasons, if your use puts other people or RPrealm at risk, or if we stop offering RPrealm. Where reasonable, we tell you why and give you a chance to respond, but we don't have to when the breach is serious (for example anything involving minors) or when telling you would be unlawful or unsafe.
- If we stop offering RPrealm altogether, we will try to give reasonable notice.
- Sections 7 (to the extent copies may be kept), 10, 15, 16, 17 and 18 continue after your account ends.
14. Deleting your account
- You can delete your account under Me. You are asked to confirm, and to type DELETE.
- Deleting your account removes your profile, chats, characters, personas, realms, feedback, break reports and any training data at once, with no 30-day copy. Some limited records may be kept as the Privacy Policy explains.
15. Disclaimers
- RPrealm is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no promises that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that AI replies will be accurate, suitable or consistent.
- We aren't responsible for what other users write, or for their characters, though we act on reports.
- Some places don't allow these disclaimers, so some may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have as a consumer that can't be limited by contract.
16. Limitation of liability
- To the fullest extent the law allows, Faelore Studios is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of RPrealm.
- To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability to you for all claims about RPrealm is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50.
- Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited by law.
17. Indemnity
To the extent the law allows, you agree to cover Faelore Studios' reasonable losses and costs from claims by others caused by your content or your breach of these Terms.
18. Governing law and disputes
- The governing law for these Terms will be stated here in the final version.
- If you are a consumer, you may bring claims in the courts where you live, and you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country.
- Before going to court, please email us first so we can try to sort it out.
19. Apple and Google
If you got RPrealm from the Apple App Store:
- These Terms are between you and Faelore Studios only, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for RPrealm or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for RPrealm.
- If RPrealm fails to meet a warranty that applies, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price (if any). Apple has no other warranty obligation to you.
- Apple is not responsible for any product claims, legal or regulatory claims, or claims that RPrealm infringes someone's intellectual property. Faelore Studios is.
- You confirm you are not in a country under a US government embargo or on a US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
If you got RPrealm from Google Play, Google Play's terms also apply to your download.
20. Changes to these Terms
- We may update these Terms. The version string at the top changes when we do.
- For a material change we will tell you in the app before it takes effect and, where the law requires, ask you to accept it again. If you don't accept, you can delete your account.
- Small changes (wording, typos, clarifications) can take effect when posted.
21. General
- If a part of these Terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we don't enforce a right straight away, we haven't given it up.
- You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours as part of a sale or reorganisation of the business, and will tell you.
- These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about RPrealm.
